Artist Statement
Bourgea is a DC area artist who believes strongly in the power of beauty to uplift the human spirit. She is particularly interested in creating murals as a way of sharing unexpected joy with people going about their lives. Witnessing the transformation of a seemingly ordinary space through the application of color and a dynamic design can be very powerful--especially during difficult times. Bourgea is energized by the large scale and public nature of mural work, which allows communities to engage with art in this natural way. She creates art in order to help people pause for a second, notice the beautiful in the midst of the difficult, and smile.
