Music Director Jonathon Heyward employs the firepower of Russian masters for a high-octane launch of the BSO’s Classical Series. Pianist Bruce Liu, who rose to international attention after winning the 2021 Chopin International Piano Competition, trades electrifying exchanges with the Orchestra in Prokofiev’s self-described “devilishly difficult” Third Piano Concerto. Jonathan Leshnoff's work Rush adds to the drama of this program, as his Composer in Residence tenure officially begins.
