Commemorate 250 years of American independence by delving into diverse narratives and experiences that shaped this country. Through fiction and nonfiction, we’ll examine our shared past and its impact on today.
“James” by Percival Everett, 2024 National Book Award and 2025 Pulitzer Prize winner. “James” is a retelling of Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” told from the perspective of Jim, an enslaved man determined to reunite with his family.
