How to Find Your Spring Vibe in the Pike District

Why do we love Spring? Well, who wouldn’t? Check out the meaning of the word: the art of leaping, forwarding, bounding. And with synonyms like energy, bounce and resilience, it’s no wonder we look forward to Spring each and every year! There’s plenty of Spring right here in the Pike District. Check out these great ways to get your bounce going, move forward and delight in a little springtime energy!

A little something up your sleeve (and in your pocket)

Grab a picnic basket and fill it full of lunch and head to any one of the many pocket-parks throughout the Pike District. These little parks are hidden recreational gems that give you a little fun outdoors close to the convenience of an after-park frozen yogurt (be sure to try Yogi Castle, Sweet Frog) or latte (we love Allegro Coffee, Vie de France Bakery Café).

  • At Wall Park you can tackle a HeartSmart Trail, tone up on the exercise path with fitness equipment or enjoy some slide time at the playground.
  • Tennis anyone? At the White Flint Park you can practice your lobs and serves while the kids enjoy the climbing equipment.
  • Play ball! The Randolph Hills Local Park offers two softball fields and a lighted baseball field so you can meet up with some friends for friendly competition.
  • Dig your toes in at The Beach at Pike & Rose where you can relax on a beach chair or make a sandcastle. Want the beach to yourself? You can reserve the beach and host your very own beach party.

Ready to head out? Stop in at Mom’s Organic Market. We love the Naked Lunch organic meals that will pack enough energy into your meal for hours at the park. Or visit the Megamart on Parklawn for some authentic Latin American food with some of the freshest vegetables and hard-to-find products like dragon fruit, guava, sapote and taro and the most delicious prepared dishes!

Tap your toes and spring to your feet!

Get energized with some great music in the Pike District! You can catch a live band Saturdays at 7 Locks Brewing Co. while kicking back with a rotating selection of ten craft beers on tap. Food trucks offer a variety of ethnic cuisine.

Dine al fresco in the Pike District then take in a symphony, jazz music and even gospel choirs at Strathmore’s jam-packed concert calendar. Plenty of Pike District restaurants have outdoor seating to take advantage of those Spring temperatures. Dine at the patio of traditional Greek restaurant Mykonos Grill and enjoy fresh octopus. Get beach-inspired at Summer House Santa Monica’s restaurant and outdoor patio.

Check back this summer for a free outdoor concert series called Live from the Lawn. Or catch a live show at Amp by Strathmore where you can see everything from a rock concert to a comedy show in a small, intimate venue.

The Pike District has so much to see and do here, it’s the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon that extends into a Saturday night. So come feel the good vibes happening this Spring in the Pike District!
